TAX HELP FOR OLDER PEOPLE (TOP)
By phone, or by appointment in Age Concern Southampton's city centre office, or home visit.
TOP is a registered charity whose advisers provide independent and free tax advice to those who are about sixty or older with a household income (you and your spouse or partner together) of about £15,000 or less (excluding tax free items like Attendance Allowance).
TOP's volunteers are experienced tax advisers who can help with:
- explaining your PAYE Notice of Coding
- form filling
- claiming a tax refund
- correspondence with your tax office
- undertaking a 'tax health check'
- complaints to your tax office.
Please first telephone TOP's lo-call helpline on 0845 601 3321 with your problem and where appropriate request an appointment with an Adviser. All meetings with Advisers are by appointment and in private in premises such as local Age Concern's or similar voluntary organisations.
Home visits can be arranged where necessary.
For Southampton residents, appointments can be arranged to be held in the office of Age Concern Southampton, 1 Saxon Gate, Back of the Walls (off East St.) Southampton SO14 3HA.
VOLUNTEERS WANTED: TOP welcomes new volunteer advisers who have a background in personal taxation and could offer 3 to 4 hours a month. Call 0845 601 3321.
