Computer Classes

Age Concern Southampton provides computer sessions for people aged 50+ in  Southampton . We aim to build the confidence that will enable an older person to join a formal class or use their own computer more effectively. Our courses:

  • Introduce you to computers.

  • Build your confidence.

  • Improve your skills.

  • Provide a relaxed atmosphere where you can try out computers, desktops & laptops.

  • Introduce you to the internet for exploring the huge potential of the world wide web and emails.

The tuition is done by friendly volunteers and is usually on a 1-to-1 basis to help you enjoy the experience of using computers.

Please Note:

As from 1st September 2010 we will formalise our courses, based upon our experience and our feedback from students. These will be:

 ·       Novice                        12 week course.

 ·       Intermediate              12 week course.

 ·        Advanced                  10 week course.

Each student will have a workbook for their relevant course.

We are replacing the voluntary contribution payment per session with a formal fee of £2.50 per 50 minute lesson. This will enable us to provide this service while meeting increased costs. As a charity we have no intention of making a profit, but we aim to make our services meet their costs.

We have a current waiting list for our lessons. If you would like to be added to the waiting list for courses commencing after 1st September 2010 please contact our office on the telephone number below.
