Legacies of all sizes are essential to allow us to support older people in Southampton. Without legacies, we would not currently be operating our befriending service.

There are different types of legacies:

A residuary legacy is the remainder of your estate (or a percentage of it) after gifts to family, friends, other causes, funeral expenses and other outgoings have been distributed. This is particularly valuable to us because it protects against inflation.

A pecuniary legacy is a fixed amount that you wish to gift to us. However, it will significantly lose it's value over time due to inflation.

A specific legacy is a named gift.

How to leave a legacy:

We recommend that you make a will with a solicitor. If you have already made a will, it is simple to add a codicil to amend it. You may have other changes to make, for example if you have a new family member to think about such as a child or grandchild. If there are multiple changes to be made, it may be advisable to make a new will. You will need the following details about the charity:

Registered Charity Name: Age Concern Southampton
Registered Address: 1 Saxon Gate, Back of the Walls, Southampton SO14 3HA
Registered Charity Number: 1122954

If you would like to discuss leaving a legacy, please give us a call on 02380 368636. You do not have to inform us if you are leaving a legacy, but we would appreciate it for forward-planning. All information will be kept confidential.

Thank you very much for considering supporting Age Concern Southampton in your will.
