Supporting Independence & WellbeingAge Concern Southampton is a small local charity providing support and services to all older people, and those who care for them, living in the City of Southampton. We promote positive ageing, healthier lifestyles and encourage independent living. We have a small team of staff but we are able to make a huge difference to people's lives through our dedicated team of over 100 volunteers. The services we provide are as follows:
Active Friends - Our volunteers help senior citizens who would like to get out more and join a group activity but lack the confidence to do so by themselves. BME Project - Working with local black and minority ethnic community groups and promoting volunteering opportunities. Change of Heart Project - For men and BME groups to improve their heart health. Lunch clubs, walking groups, talks and growing vegetables in the Ropewalk Community Garden. Computer Classes - For beginners and improvers. Gardening Service - A subsidised service for those who can no longer manage their gardens. Health and Wellbeing - Aims to improve the general health and wellbeing of people in Southampton. Information and Advice - On any issue related to ageing. Life to the Full - Helping over 50s to get involved in activities in the local area. Have fun, make friends and try something new. Padwell Road Day Centre Phone Friends - Our volunteers provide a friendly voice on the end of the line for isolated older people on a regular basis Visiting Friends - Our volunteers visit isolated older people in their homes on a regular basis for a friendly chat. Volunteering - We offer a number of rewarding opportunities to get involved in our work. Work Club - Supporting over 50s to get back into employment |
